Family Time at NewSpring Church

We had a great family time at NewSpring this weekend.  The kids joined their parents in the Worship Center to learn about the virtue of humility. The KidzWorld Praise Team led in worship and the puppets were there to help teach the kids about humidity, er, I mean humility. The pictures give you some idea of just how much fun we had this weekend as Bubba learned about the importance of putting others first.

Special thanks to all of the volunteers who helped with the program and to Andy Williams & Sarah Kubish for doing such a great job with the technical end of things. Next week everyone will be back in their own environments but will continue to learn about the virtue of humility. I am excited about the whole family learning to “put others first by giving up what you think you deserve.” Our bottom line yesterday was “God wants you to remember it’s not about you” and we told the story of the Tower of Babel. Our church, family, and work place will be changed if we all practice a little humility.

This Weekend at NewSpring

These two got caught being early for their ministry to kids.  We appreciate all of you who help us serve kids at NewSpring.  Keep up the great work!
Jenny Walter arrived at 10:35 to her 4-yr-old class on Sunday morning.  She typically helps with over 40 kids during that hour!
Jason Graham was caught arriving at 5:35 Saturday night.  Jason serves each weekend by helping in the 2’s/3’s on Saturday nights.
Don’t forget this Thursday Comedian Tim Hawkins will be here at NewSpring for a rip-roaring time of laughter for the whole family.  This weekend the kids will be joining us in the worship center for a superduper family time of learning and worship.  The puppets will be there and I heard there are some special things being planned for the whole family to enjoy.  Bring the family and plan to have a blast at church this weekend.

Bike Rodeo at NewSpring

We had an awesome time we had with all the kids who joined in the Bike Rodeo!  They all did a great job and had a lot of fun riding bikes and eating hotdogs and sno-cones.  A big special “KidzWorld Thank You” to all the folks that came and helped!  A a super big “KidzWorld Thank You” to all the security folks who came to make sure all were safe.  We couldn’t have done it without you.

Fourth of July Weekend at NewSpring Church

My family and I are out in Boston, MA for the wedding of my nephew.  Wow, there is a lot of traffic out here.  You can say what you want but there is something special about living in the Midwest!   Well I’m not writing to give you a traffic report but to let you know what awesome things are coming up on Fourth of July weekend.

First, Comedian Tim Hawkins is going to make you laugh your head off on July 3 as he will be in top performance  along with our own NewSpring Band.  That is going to be off the hook!

Secondly that weekend is going to be a super-duper fun time in the Worship Center as all kids from age 2-5th grade will worship with their parents.  This will be a fun-filled hour of worship, teaching and a whole lot of excitement.  We are going to do some things that you have never seen inside a worship center.  We are going to worship as a family and learn as a family.  Don’t miss this weekend!  The following weekend we will go back to our regular formats but the teaching will be coordinated to that kids and adults are learing the same things each weekend in July in their own environments.   I am really excited about trying to get families to talk about what they have learned together throughout the week at NewSpring Church.

Early to Serve

Some more volunteers were caught being early to serve at NewSpring.  The top photo is Leon Embry. Leon and his wife, Judy volunteer in Baby Bay at 9:30. Mickey Elworth helps in Route 252 and does an awesome job sharing God’s love with the children.  We appreciate so much our volunteers who take time to minister to the children that are coming to NewSpring.  It is exciting to see all the families that are coming and lives that are being changed.

We appreciate ALL of the volunteers who have been getting here early. Keep it up and you may just get “caught” in the next few weeks!

Block Party

Last night we had a great time with the folks from the Sienna Ranch.  We had hotdogs, chips and even snow cones as a special treat.  The puppet team did a great job and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.  Michelle Poore even did some superduper face painting. Kids were still lined up for that even after everything was taken down.  What a fun way to get out in the community and just hang out with some people.  Also the team has been invited to go to Rosehill on July 27, for a ice cream social in the park.  They are expecting around 300 hundred people and we are going down there to have some fun.   We will be bring the puppets and well as our large inflatable.  To all those who came to the party last night, it was awesome to meet you and to those that worked very hard behind the scenes, a big heartfelt thank you.

Going to Atlanta, GA

Well, here we are at the airport ready to jump on a plane to go to Atlanta.  Sarah is coming with me this time instead of Debbie.  We are on our way to do some Judgement House stuff and also Sarah is excited about going to Perry Noble’s church on Sunday afternoon in Anderson, SC.  His church is also called NewSpring.  On Saturday we are going to Perimeter Church in Alanta which has a awesome children’s ministry. Sunday morning we will go to  North Point Church in Alpharetta, GA, where Andy Stanley is pastor. Sarah is pumped about being in these churches to see all the cool tech stuff as well as experience powerful worship.  Keep checking back with the blog. We will try to post some more pics as we go.

What are the workers saying about working in KidzWorld?

Debbie had a meeting today with some of our great volunteers in KidzWorld and she asked them what they love about working with kids–what brings them back week after week.  Here is just some of what they said:

“Excitement of the kids.  I feel like I’ve gotta be here for them.”

“The kids always run up to me and give me hugs on Sunday mornings.”

“Being a part of something awesome!  The enjoyment of my own kids getting saved!”

“The best thing of all is seeing the kids accept Christ.”

“I love to see each child’s smiling face, knowing that we are providing a fun, exciting environment that is God-filled.”

“I really enjoy the fact that the kids are always excited to be at KidzWorld.  It is amazing how much information about Jesus these kids retain.”

“My own learning–the virtues and bottom lines are so applicable in my own life.  I end up learning and growing right along with the kids!”

“The kids want to be there!”

“Bonding with my own kids through worship.”

“I just love the large group time with the skits, games and singing.”

That’s just a few of the many answers given.  If you have something you would like to add about why you love working in KidzWorld just send it to me.

Baby Bay, Family Photo

Next time you are at NewSpring make sure you check out the new additions to Baby Bay.  Once again the shop crew takes the environments up a notch!  This turtle has been in the works for 2 years.  It was sitting in the shop and was only worked on when there was free time from the other pressing stuff they are doing.  Needless to say there has been a lot of pressing stuff.

They also added this cool school of fishes.  Cosmo is looking at them from the submarine window.  The kids and parents loved these two additions.  Many dads lifted their child up to touch the turtle.   But we all need to be a little careful with the small fishes because they will break if they get hit.

For Mothers’ Day at NewSpring we offered free family portraits as a special gift for mom.  Over 150 photos were taken and they turned out great.  Special thanks to Lance Cummins and Gina Dreher for all the work they did to make that happen.  If you took a photo, you can pick up your 8×10 this weekend and you will also receive a digital copy of your photo by email.

It has been nice being home all this week with the family and catching up on some things, but next week I will be going down near Atlanta, GA to meet with a church staff about doing Judgement House.

Judgement House is coming to Dodge City, Kansas!

We are so excited about the opportunity to train First Southern Baptist Church of Dodge City to do Judgement House this year.  That moves the JH ministry just a little farther west in the state of Kansas.  The people here are excited about doing this ministry and seeing what it could do for their church and community.  I can’t wait for the great reports that will be coming out of Dodge City this October! Make sure you take time to pray for the staff and members of this church as they start on this new adventure.  We finished with training around 9:15 p.m. tonight and will be starting again at 9 a.m. tomorrow. After training, we will jump in the van and head home to get to NewSpring by church time.  Pray for us as we train tomorrow as well for our safety on the way home.
