Camp Update 14 OMC

The kids as well as the adults had a blast at OMC.  Lots of shaving cream, tooth paste and other cool stuff were flying everywhere.  Imagine 300 kids running wild & having fun!  The coolest part though is that there is a point to all this madness. The challenge of OMC is for each team to complete as many tasks as possible during the allowed time. Each child does one task at a time. The most important rule of the game is that you can’t say “no.” If someone needs help with a task, they may ask anyone and that person must agree to help. The teaching point is that God has some “tasks” for you and some of them may be a little messy or difficult but you should always be ready to say “yes” to God and let Him direct you to use your unique abilities. One of the things we love about Centri-Kid is that every activity has a lesson for kids. They even learn about what God wants from them in the recreation times.

We hope the rest of you back in the real world are having a great time! I’m not sure that we are ready to join you again just yet but maybe by tomorrow morning… BTW, your kids would love to hear from you so if you haven’t emailed me: dan.kubish@newspring.org or commented on my blog, take a minute to do it now.

Camp Update 12

Things that your kids have said about camp:

“This rocks!”

“The food is great and it is lots of fun and I have learned a lot but I do miss my family a tiny bit.”

“Miss Debbie is so nice and this is the best camp ever in the whole wide world!!”

“I like camp because you get to be with people who like you.”

“I thought I would miss my family but…?”  I won’t finish that one!

“It is like being in KidzWorld all week!”

“I like the food and the new friends that I have made!”

Camp Update 12

Good Morning Parents!  The kids are up and getting ready to go to breakfast.  After breakfast we all gather as a church group for morning devotions.  Your kids are learning that starting your day off with Bible study and prayer is a good way to stay on track with God.  Today is the day the kids have been waiting for all week.  OMC  This is where they are going to get messy.  I will post some pictures of OMC around 3pm.  Have a great day and keep praying for us.

Camp Update 11

Here are some more pictures that I thought you would like to see.  Found a battery for the bus and it is in Springfield getting another small problem fixed but we should be ready to go on Friday morning Lord willing.  Keep praying for your kids they are having a great time and I far as I know no one is requesting to go home.  There are many that want to stay for another week!  Good night everyone. I need sleep.

Camp Update 8

Before gift shop, after gift shop.

It rained all last night and it is still raining this morning but we will still have fun at camp!  The kids are having a blast with all the staff and counselors from NewSpring as well as the staff from Centri-Kid.  Got to go to breakfast…”the most important meal of the day.”

Camp Update 7 Must Read

Kids are still having a blast with all of the activities here at Centri-Kid.  There is so much energy when you put 300 hundred junior kids together in 1 room.  But to hear them be excited about God is awesome!

After are large group session we went to our church group devotional time.  When we got into the room I started talking about what sin was and how it messed up our way to heaven.  But Jesus came to save us from our sins and all we had to do is to accept Him as our Saviour.

Well, I am overjoyed to say 1 boy and 3 girls from NewSpring accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour!  We are having a party in the rooms to rejoice over these precious kids decision.  I would love to share who it was but we are going to let the kids tell their parents first.

Keep praying for us.  Tomorrow night I will be talking to the kids about baptism and what it means to us.

Pray also we are needing to get a new battery for the bus and you can’t find them in your local Wal-mart.

Camp Update 6

Ok, it’s free time for the kids and they have a choice of many things to do.  Supper will be at 5:30 so some of them are resting in their rooms and others decided to go swimming.  We had a brief rain shower and it brought the temp down which was super nice.  Now the sun is out and it is starting to get warm again.  Keep praying for us as we will be in worship around 6:30 and then we will have group devotions tonight at 7:30. I gave the kids a question to this about while they are at camp this week. I asked them to think about the one thing God wants them to do this week.  Everyone is having a great time and no one is homesick.  Parents please do us a favor, unless it is an emergency please don’t continue to call your child.  If a child starts to feel homesick, hearing your voice will just increase it and will not help the situation.  I know you miss your kids but that is why I am trying to keep you up-to-date with this blog.  More later.
