Going to Atlanta, GA

Well, here we are at the airport ready to jump on a plane to go to Atlanta.  Sarah is coming with me this time instead of Debbie.  We are on our way to do some Judgement House stuff and also Sarah is excited about going to Perry Noble’s church on Sunday afternoon in Anderson, SC.  His church is also called NewSpring.  On Saturday we are going to Perimeter Church in Alanta which has a awesome children’s ministry. Sunday morning we will go to  North Point Church in Alpharetta, GA, where Andy Stanley is pastor. Sarah is pumped about being in these churches to see all the cool tech stuff as well as experience powerful worship.  Keep checking back with the blog. We will try to post some more pics as we go.

Baby Bay, Family Photo

Next time you are at NewSpring make sure you check out the new additions to Baby Bay.  Once again the shop crew takes the environments up a notch!  This turtle has been in the works for 2 years.  It was sitting in the shop and was only worked on when there was free time from the other pressing stuff they are doing.  Needless to say there has been a lot of pressing stuff.

They also added this cool school of fishes.  Cosmo is looking at them from the submarine window.  The kids and parents loved these two additions.  Many dads lifted their child up to touch the turtle.   But we all need to be a little careful with the small fishes because they will break if they get hit.

For Mothers’ Day at NewSpring we offered free family portraits as a special gift for mom.  Over 150 photos were taken and they turned out great.  Special thanks to Lance Cummins and Gina Dreher for all the work they did to make that happen.  If you took a photo, you can pick up your 8×10 this weekend and you will also receive a digital copy of your photo by email.

It has been nice being home all this week with the family and catching up on some things, but next week I will be going down near Atlanta, GA to meet with a church staff about doing Judgement House.

Bathroom Update

Here are some updated photos of our bathroom remodel project.  As you can see we are getting closer to having it finished.  We are still waiting on the vanity to get here but Sarah and Dale matted some photos that she took on a trip to Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.  They look amazing in the room. The matte matches the walls and the frames really set things off.  So we see the end in sight and the crew has done a great job.  It also been fun having everyone working on the project.  Actually my job is pretty much just blogging about it and making sure we have plenty of Diet Pepsi in the fridge!

Since this is the second blog post in a couple of hours make sure you read the previous one.

Bathroom is Still in Progress

Today we celebrated Danny’s birthday and after our meal of fajitas and homemade ice cream (chocolate/banana) and angel food cake with strawberries, we pushed away from the table and
the kids decided to start painting the bathroom.  Nate plastered the walls yesterday so it was ready for a fresh coat of paint.  Last week they put up the trim and hung the bathroom door. In fact, the kids used their new shower this morning and loved it even though we haven’t gotten the glass wall up yet.  So here is the lastest picture of the bathroom.  We are still waiting for the vanity to come in and once we get that the project will be complete.

The Party Continues for One More Day

OK, I know all of you are on the edge of your seats wanting to know if we made it home to Wichita.  In one word…NO!  We got to O’Hare Airport and went to turn in our rental car but we were trying to return our Budget rental car at a Dollar Rental Car return terminal.  So, after all the rental car attendants and the ladies riding with me had a big laugh over that, we finally made it to the check-in for Northwest Airlines. As we checked in, the computer indicated that our flight would probably be delayed.  Then we made it to the gate and found out that severe weather was causing many delayed flights including our own. The weather broke a little and some flights began to take off but bad weather was still delaying our plane coming into Chicago. As the minutes ticked away, our likelihood of catching our connecting flight in Minneapolis faded fast. The stormy weather picked up again and no flights were allowed to take off or land at O’Hare. It became obvious that we would not be getting home to Wichita tonight. Fortunately, we were able to get our luggage back and find a hotel close to the airport. So tomorrow we have to get up at 3:30 a.m. to catch a flight at 6 a.m. We have been rerouted to Memphis then to Wichita.  Lord willing, we should be home around 11:30 a.m.  Tomorrow is my son Danny’s birthday and we were supposed to take him for breakfast for his birthday but it looks like we will have to do it on Monday.  Happy Birthday, Danny!  You Rock!!  Mom & Dad love you.

One Step Closer

The bathroom project is going well. The tile is in and the walls and floors have been grouted and sealed.  The plumber came out yesterday to set the toilet and install the shower head and faucet.  Tonight we will tackle putting the plaster on the walls and installing the rest of the light fixtures and the exhaust fan.  The vanity should be ready soon and the door has been ordered.  For a family of 7 to have 1 shower makes it quite exciting and I’ve had to plan for a bit more traffic into my bathroom.  But it will be worth it in the end.

This week in Route 252 we will be talking about joy and how to have joy even when things don’t go your way.  The footings for the balcony were poured this week and next week the steel supports go up. It won’t be too long before we have more space for more kids.

The Bathroom Remodel Continues

Well, Debbie & I finally made it home around 2:15 p.m. today and we went straight to NewSpring to get busy.  But of course we couldn’t wait to get home and see the kids and the bathroom project.  As you can tell from the picture the crew has made some good progress.  After supper tonight we all got busy cutting tiles while Dale, Sarah, Grace & Philip set the tile.  The plumber comes out Wednesday to set the toilet so in just a few moments they are going to start laying the tile on the floor.

Our trip to the National Office of Judgement House was productive and in the upcoming weeks we will be sharing some future projects we have in mind.  Well, better get back to work!  Actually, I’m just watching right now.

Update on the Remodel

Sarah just sent me this new picture of the bathroom remodel project going on while we are away at National Judgement House Trainer’s meeting.  This is a shot of the ceiling above the shower.  Sarah will not send a picture of the whole thing because she says, “There is a suprise that you can’t see until you get home.”  So I guess if I have to wait then you are going to have to wait too.

How does a hamburger taste when eaten at a 5 million dollar house?

The answer….the same but the view is beautiful!  Debbie and I have just returned to our hotel after having a great time with all the National Staff of Judgement House and the National Trainers from around the country.  We meet once a year to see what is coming up new with JH and also the vision for the next 5 to 10 years.  It is always great to get together and hear how JH has transformed lives and churches arcross the United States and in 8 countries around the world.  The picture shows the house where we had a barbeque on the beach. This 5ooo sq ft house is located right on Clearwater Beach, Florida.  It is for sale for 5 million!  What a bargain!  This would make a great house for a staff retreat!   So I thought I would let you see a picture of it as well as a picture of the sunset tonight.  It was 89 today but it is supposed to get cold the end of the week–down in the 60’s on Monday!  BRRRR!  Tomorrow we start bright and early for a day of meetings with the board members of JH as well as discussion on how to train other churches more effectively.

I am waiting on another picture of our remodling project but haven’t received it yet.  Will pass it along when I do.  I know all of you are anixously awaiting it.

While we are away

We finally made it to Tampa around 3 a.m. this morning.  As I said in the previous post we were rerouted to Denver then instead of going directly to Tampa we flew to Ft Myers, Florida which is 133 miles from Tampa.  So I had to do some rearranging of our rental car reservations. We landed around midnight and drove up to Tampa.  Needless to say we were a little tired but hopefully we will get a good night’s sleep.

But you are probably wondering about the picture on the top of this blog.  Well, it is the main bathroom in our house.  My son, Nate, and my daughter, Sarah, have started remodeling the bathroom and they sent me this picture to let us know how it is going.  I will keep you updated.  This will be just like HGTV via my blog.
