Camp Update #4

We posted lots of pictures today of the kids having a blast here at Sky Ranch. It has been raining on and off all day but that didn’t stop the fun. Our main focus for today was answering the question: Who Am I? And the answer is: I am God’s creation. The kids learned about God creating the world and them and that He created them just the way they are. We’ve had an awesome time learning together. During craft time we made some cool bracelets that have different colored beads each representing a part of God’s story. Ask you kids to tell you what each color stands for when they get home. This afternoon was free time and the kids got to do all kinds of activities including zip line, horseback riding, paint ball, frontier adventures and even swimming in some quite cold fresh spring water! It’s getting close to “shut down” time for tonight so pray that the kids will meditate on what they have learned about God and really begin to realize how much He loves them. Continue to pray for us. Looking forward to a great day tomorrow!

Camp Update #1

Made it to camp at 6:40pm safe and sound.  Kids are having a great time with all of their friends.  Here are some of the comments so far:

“this is way better than my mom said it would be”

“do we have to go back on Wednesday?”

“camp is as fun as KidzWorld is at NewSpring”

“I can’t wait to go on the Zipline tomorrow”

Bed time…continue to pray for us.  Tomorrow the topic is “who am I”

Where in the World is Cosmo–CLUE 1

Where in the world is Cosmo?

During the month of June, Route 252 is sponsoring a Cosmo medallion search. This is designed to be a fun family adventure. The family who finds the medallion will win a gift certificate for a stay at the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City. Have fun searching!

Contest Rules

  1. The Cosmo medallion is hidden somewhere in the Wichita city limits.
  2. It will be found in a place that is publicly accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  3. You will never have to stop in traffic, destroy public property or put yourself in danger to find the medallion.
  4. A new clue will be handed out in Route 252 each weekend in June. If you miss the weekend service, the new clue will be posted on lifeinakidzworld.com on Tuesday morning.
  5. If you find the medallion, take a family photo at the location. Send the photo to dan.kubish@newspring.org.

CLUE 1:
Paper and scissors is missing its first.
Don’t get tangled in a web; that would be the worst.
The medallion is located between 10 and 12.
If you find it, all is well!

Where in the world is Cosmo?

It was an awesome idea! We would hide a Cosmo medallion somewhere in the Wichita city limits and then give clues and let KidzWorld families search for it. The families could work together and have fun searching. Plus the prize would be amazing–a 2 night stay at the Great Wolf Lodge!

Well, it was such an awesome idea that when we gave the first clues out on Saturday evening several families went to work right away searching for the medallion. And guess what? By the time we finished KidzWorld that evening, we had a winner!! Our KidzWorld kids and their families are REALLY smart! Congratulations to the Runck family, the first family to figure out the clues and find the medallion. We hope they have a wonderful time at the Great Wolf Lodge.

Needless to say, we want everyone to be able to have a chance to participate in the contest. So we are going to start over again and hide another medallion and hopefully come up with a trickier location and some tougher clues and put our families back in the hunt.

Be sure you check back on my blog on Tuesday for clue #1. Then next weekend we will hand out clue #2 at KidzWorld and post it to my blog on Tuesday. For those of you who just missed finding the first medallion, get your thinking caps back on and be ready to search!

“That was me!”

Debbie and I have had a great few days spending time with the Judgement House leadership team. About once a year we have the opportunity to share stories and encouragement with other JH national trainers from across the country…and the world. Our biggest thrill this trip was our chance to meet Kathy. Last fall, Kathy attended Judgement House for the first time when she was invited by a friend. The drama she saw was “Unexpected,” a script that originated at NewSpring in 2008. As Kathy walked through each scene, she began to identify with the “perfect mom” who made preparations to care for everyone around her but never made preparation for her own eternity. She told us, “That was me…I was that mom.”  All of a sudden she realized that she had never made that preparation for eternity either. We are excited to tell you that Kathy took care of that issue that night. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and now she knows that she will spend eternity with Him in heaven.

It was just so cool to hear her repeat the words of the script back to Debbie and me.  I can’t say how much I appreciate Debbie taking so much time to help me write the “Unexpected” script.  We work together wrestling through ideas and wording that will connect to people who will be going through the tour.  Special thanks to all you NewSpringers who help us do Judgement House each year and Sarah who takes video footage and puts it together to make training videos for other churches.  Not until you get to heaven will you ever know how much impact your service has had on other people.

252 Theater “Nothing But Net” Contest

We are offering a fun little contest for elementary kids in the month of May. It’s called Nothing But Net because we want the kids to make a video that shows them doing some awesome, crazy and amazing tricks with a basketball. So parents have a little fun with your kids and put together a video that will astound our judges. The video must be 30 sec or less and must be submitted to Mr Dan on DVD by May 23rd. Grand prize is a $100 gift card and other prizes will be given as well. The winners will be announced in Route 252 on May 30/31.

Patience Music Video

This month in Route 252 we are learning about patience.  Our cool college students along with NewSpring video director, Sarah Kubish, came up with this music video to go along with our theme.  Just hit play and enjoy it with your kids at home.  Take time to talk to your kids about what it means to be patient.  Give them an example of when you had to be patient.  See you this weekend!

Chill Out This Weekend in Route 252

Summer’s almost here but it’s going to take a little patience to get through May and the rest of the school year. And that’s what elementary kids will learn about in Route 252 all month long…Patience. We are going to Chill Out and we’ve got lots of zany things planned so you don’t want to miss the very first weekend. It’s Family Experience Weekend too! Your parents can join you for 20 minutes between the services on Saturday and Sunday to have some fun and see what you will learn in May. We’ll have games, skits, prizes, contests AND the debut of our first-ever KidzWorld music video! Be in your place this weekend–Saturdays at 5 or 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 or 11:15 a.m.
