Praying for Judgement House

Nine years.  If you have nine years of experience you should feel pretty confident about an upcoming project.  Well, let me tell you that is not the case.  Every year at this time I get a little jumpy and nervous about doing Judgement House.  My personality says, “Let’s get it done. We know how to do this.” But in all honesty if we don’t have the power of the Holy Spirit working not only in the lives of the people that come but also in the cast and crew we will fail big time.  So this year I want to make sure we continue to pray for the ministry of JH not only during the performance dates but also as we prepare.  So this year you will be able to sign up to get a daily prayer list from me with specific requests and also updates throughout the perfomances.  If you signed up for the prayer team or cast and crew you will be on the list already. Everyone else can go to newspring.org and there will be a place to submit your email address. (It won’t be active until this weekend.) The daily emails will begin October 2nd and end November 2 (or early in the morning November 3!)

We are excited about what is God going to do this year at NewSpring and trust you will be praying along with us as we present Judgement House.

First Class

Right now I am in Tampa, Florida. I spoke at the National Fundraising Banquet for Judgement House.  What an awesome time of hearing how God is working all over the world with the ministry of JH.  It was a blessing to have a part in this wonderful ministry.

My precious wife drove me to Mid-Continent Airport on Thursday. As I was trying to do self check-in (which I can’t get to work about 50% of the time)  a man behind the counter came up to me and said, “You look really familiar. Don’t you go to NewSpring?”  “Yes,” I replied. He said, “Come over here and I will take care of you.”  And boy did he ever!  When I looked at my ticket it was for First Class.  Wow, what a blessing.  Isn’t it great how God can bless your life even when you’re not expecting it?  And to the gentleman who was so kind…THANK YOU!

Great Day at NewSpring

It was an awesome weekend at NewSpring Church as we started a brand new series called ” Pillow Talk”.  The crowds were large and the place was packed.  We had a such a wonderful time with the kids and having the balcony open this week was perfect timing.  Also we started a live band in Rt 252 Theater and the kids just loved it.  Some people have been predicting that we will hit 3000 people sometime during this series and we came within 200 of that this weekend!  God is doing some amazing things at NewSpring and I am just glad I can be a part of it.  If you are not plugged in with some ministry here, now is the time to step up and get involved in reaching out to others.

Here are the people who got caught being early to their ministry in KidzWorld.

Lisa & Kaytlin White had their hands in the play doh early in AA3 as they welcomed kids at 9:30.

Michelle Miller was eager to start helping with the Kindergartners at the11:00 service!

We appreciate ALL our volunteers so much! We hope that you count it a privilege every week to volunteer in KidzWorld. Remember–you are making an ETERNAL difference in the lives of kids and their families.

Judgement House Reservations

We are excited about Judgement House this year and Monday we start taking reservations.  The cool thing is that you can make your reservation online or if you need assistance you can call the NewSpring church office. The dates for this year’s performances are Oct 24-26, and Oct 29-Nov 2.  Get your reservations early as we usually will fill up before the the first date.  Take time to invite your family and friends to this unique Gospel presentation.

Wonderful Watermark Weekend!

What an incredible time we had at Watermark Weekend!  Over 2000 people were present to celebrate as over 150 people made their faith public by being baptized.  The weather forecast did not look good and rain was falling hard in areas close to Wichita but God stepped in and did a miracle and moved the storm around us!  To God be the Glory!  It’s pretty rare for a Kansas storm to move west but that is exactly what happened today. It was pouring rain in Newton just north of us and was headed right towards us but God stepped in and had other plans.

Special thanks to all our awesome volunteers who did an outstanding job to help put on this celebration.  We couldn’t have done it without you. I won’t ever forget this day of celebration of new life through Christ. If you attended Watermark and God is working on you to make your faith public, remember that we are planning to do additional baptisms next Sunday during our regualar services at 9:30 and 11:00. Just go online or call the church office to get more information.

Here we are just a few days away from Watermark Weekend at NewSpring Church.  Plans are being carried out and the excitement is building.  We have nearly 150 people who plan to take the next step by following the Lord in baptism this Sunday.  Isn’t that just exciting?  All this week I’ve had the privilege of talking to many children about baptism and what it means to participate in this great weekend.  Keep praying for good weather and that all the projects that need to be done will be finished on time.  Tomorrow the tents will be put up and the landscaping around the pool will be installed.  Don’t forget to bring a chair for yourself and a couple extras if you have them for our guests to use.  This is going to be a weekend that you and your family don’t want to miss!  I can’t wait until Sunday…don’t forget there will be only one service at 10:30 a.m.

Also, don’t forget if you would like to help in Judgement House you can go to our website www.newspring.org and click on the JH icon.  Don’t delay because we would like to end sign up by next weekend.  The script this year is titled “Unexpected” and we are praying that God will use it to His glory to see many people accept Christ.

Got Caught

Mike & Lisa

We love to “catch” volunteers being early to KidzWorld and getting ready to minister to the children of NewSpring.
Mr and Mrs B serve in Adventure Ave both services on Sunday mornings and they can do that because they attend the Saturday night service.  If anybody else would like to attend Saturday evening service and work both services on Sunday just let me know.  What an awesome way to spend your Sunday mornings!
They lead music in the theater and also help in Adventure Avenue 3.
(Mr. B loves to calm down the “criers”)

Honor

This month in Route 252 we are learning about honor and what the Bible says about giving honor to people in our lives.  The story this week was about Jesus’ first miracle and how he turned water into wine but also how he showed honor to his mother and how the servants showed honor to Jesus and how we should show honor to people around us.  So part of the fun was to dress up a couple of small group leaders as “brides” with the help of the kids.  Our bottom line was “Show honor to those who are over you” and our memory verse is “Love each other deeply. Honor others more than yourselves.” Romans 12:10  Honor is letting someone know you see how valuable they really are.

Don’t forget parents, Promotion Weekend will be August 16/17. School age children will promote into the class for the grade they will be in this fall. Preschool children will only promote if they have had a birthday since June 1.  The kids entering 6th grade will be in Route 252 for the last time on that Sunday.

Our KidzWorld staff is so excited about the growth we are experiencing in our children’s ministry. We are beginning to plan some cool events for the fall. Your child won’t want to miss a single week of KidzWorld.

Block Party in Rose Hill

We had a great time with all the people of Rose Hill that came out for their Ice Cream Social event.  We provided the inflatable and lots of cool cosmo tattoos.  Thanks to everyone who came and helped.  Special thanks to the city of Rose Hill for letting us hang out with all the friendly people of the community.  We had fun and made some new friends.

Caught

Last week I forgot to post about the people who were caught being early for their ministry to kids.  The Mastersons teach in Adventure Avenue 4 and do an outstanding job.

Amy White does registration and she was in place 30 minutes early to great and check in kids.

Cheryl Thorton has worked in Baby Bay for many years and is always early to her ministry.  These people all received a Sonic gift card as a little appreciation from the KidzWorld staff.  Keep up the good work and next week we will be giving out some more stuff.
