Blown Away by Buddy Day!

Debbie and I were totally blown away by the number of kids that showed up for “Buddy Day.”  For more info about the day see previous post.  Anyway, we had 91 first time guests to KidzWorld!  Can you believe that?  The kids did such an awesome job inviting other kids to come with them.  Many kids brought more than one.  We didn’t have to bribe the kids, give them candy, stickers or a patch to bring their friends.  We just told them that only about 25% of kids in the Wichita area attend church on a regular basis and that leaves plenty of kids that would love to come and experience KidzWorld.  We are so proud of the kids and we look forward to the next time we do it.

I’ve got good news though, kids. You don’t have to wait until the next Buddy Day to bring your friends; you can invite friends to KidzWorld anytime.  Can’t wait till the weekend!

Heads up…we are talking about Noah in Route 252.  The virtue is Determination-deciding its worth it to finish what you started.  Noah would be an excellent example of that virtue. In Adventure Avenue the kids will be learning about our awesome Creator and the wonderful creation He made!

WOW! What a weekend at NewSpring

What a tremendous weekend we had at NewSpring and also in KidzWorld.  Over 600 kids attended KidzWorld over the weekend and we had record-breaking crowds in 252 Theater for both hours on Sunday!  There were kids everywhere and they were enjoying the environments that were created just for them.  Thanks to all those who not only serve in this great ministry but for the ones also who gave their money to help minister to all the kids who are coming to KidzWorld.

This is Sue Sharp and she got caught being early to Adventure Avenue 2 this past week.  She even had a smile on her face, which we really appreciate.  Thanks to all who are showing up early to help reach boys and girls for Christ.  Even if I don’t see you, there is One who does and will reward you way more than you can imagine.
This Saturday KidzWorld is going to be represented in the Andover Days Parade.  The parade will go south on Andover Rd and turn east on Central.  If you looking for a fun family event this weekend come out and see Cosmo and the puppets in the parade.  Also at Andover Central Park we will be doing puppet shows at noon, 1p.m. and 2 p.m. Come by and see us. I will try to post some pictures of the event later on.

Sunday, October 5th is “Bring a Buddy Day” in KidzWorld. We are encouraging all kids and volunteers to bring a “buddy” with them to church.  We will have invitations available this week so you can invite your friends.

The following week a local tv station will be visiting KidzWorld to see how the church passes faith along to children.  Don’t worry about it. Just be yourself and have fun sharing God’s love with the kids that come on that day.

Continue to pray about the ministry of NewSpring Church and also the ministry of Judgement House.  This could be the biggest and most exciting fall we have experienced here at NewSpring.  Hang on!

First Class

Right now I am in Tampa, Florida. I spoke at the National Fundraising Banquet for Judgement House.  What an awesome time of hearing how God is working all over the world with the ministry of JH.  It was a blessing to have a part in this wonderful ministry.

My precious wife drove me to Mid-Continent Airport on Thursday. As I was trying to do self check-in (which I can’t get to work about 50% of the time)  a man behind the counter came up to me and said, “You look really familiar. Don’t you go to NewSpring?”  “Yes,” I replied. He said, “Come over here and I will take care of you.”  And boy did he ever!  When I looked at my ticket it was for First Class.  Wow, what a blessing.  Isn’t it great how God can bless your life even when you’re not expecting it?  And to the gentleman who was so kind…THANK YOU!

Great Day at NewSpring

It was an awesome weekend at NewSpring Church as we started a brand new series called ” Pillow Talk”.  The crowds were large and the place was packed.  We had a such a wonderful time with the kids and having the balcony open this week was perfect timing.  Also we started a live band in Rt 252 Theater and the kids just loved it.  Some people have been predicting that we will hit 3000 people sometime during this series and we came within 200 of that this weekend!  God is doing some amazing things at NewSpring and I am just glad I can be a part of it.  If you are not plugged in with some ministry here, now is the time to step up and get involved in reaching out to others.

Here are the people who got caught being early to their ministry in KidzWorld.

Lisa & Kaytlin White had their hands in the play doh early in AA3 as they welcomed kids at 9:30.

Michelle Miller was eager to start helping with the Kindergartners at the11:00 service!

We appreciate ALL our volunteers so much! We hope that you count it a privilege every week to volunteer in KidzWorld. Remember–you are making an ETERNAL difference in the lives of kids and their families.

Judgement House Reservations

We are excited about Judgement House this year and Monday we start taking reservations.  The cool thing is that you can make your reservation online or if you need assistance you can call the NewSpring church office. The dates for this year’s performances are Oct 24-26, and Oct 29-Nov 2.  Get your reservations early as we usually will fill up before the the first date.  Take time to invite your family and friends to this unique Gospel presentation.

Wonderful Watermark Weekend!

What an incredible time we had at Watermark Weekend!  Over 2000 people were present to celebrate as over 150 people made their faith public by being baptized.  The weather forecast did not look good and rain was falling hard in areas close to Wichita but God stepped in and did a miracle and moved the storm around us!  To God be the Glory!  It’s pretty rare for a Kansas storm to move west but that is exactly what happened today. It was pouring rain in Newton just north of us and was headed right towards us but God stepped in and had other plans.

Special thanks to all our awesome volunteers who did an outstanding job to help put on this celebration.  We couldn’t have done it without you. I won’t ever forget this day of celebration of new life through Christ. If you attended Watermark and God is working on you to make your faith public, remember that we are planning to do additional baptisms next Sunday during our regualar services at 9:30 and 11:00. Just go online or call the church office to get more information.

tents are up

Here we are just a few days away from Watermark Weekend at NewSpring Church.  Plans are being carried out and the excitement is building.  We have nearly 150 people who plan to take the next step by following the Lord in baptism this Sunday.  Isn’t that just exciting?  All this week I’ve had the privilege of talking to many children about baptism and what it means to participate in this great weekend.  Keep praying for good weather and that all the projects that need to be done will be finished on time.  Tomorrow the tents will be put up and the landscaping around the pool will be installed.  Don’t forget to bring a chair for yourself and a couple extras if you have them for our guests to use.  This is going to be a weekend that you and your family don’t want to miss!  I can’t wait until Sunday…don’t forget there will be only one service at 10:30 a.m.

Also, don’t forget if you would like to help in Judgement House you can go to our website www.newspring.org and click on the JH icon.  Don’t delay because we would like to end sign up by next weekend.  The script this year is titled “Unexpected” and we are praying that God will use it to His glory to see many people accept Christ.

Cosmo Tattoos are a Big Hit in KidzWorld

Cosmo Tattoo

We had a great time in KidzWorld today talking about humility.  Kids in Route 252 and adults in the worship center were learning about the same thing in their own environments.  The Bible story was about James & John and how their mother asked Jesus to put her sons in power by seating them one of the left and the other on the right of Jesus.  Jesus had an answer for them and all the disciples by telling them if they wanted to be in a place of honor, they must become a servant.  Our bottom line today was: “It’s important to treat others like they’re more important than you.”  We have one more week of learning about humility. Pastor Mark will be teaching next week to wrap up this series.

For WaterMark weekend we got some Cosmo tattoos to pass out during the fun and games time and we thought we’d let the kids have some today in KidzWorld.  They loved them, and even some of the adults had to get in on the action.  We told the kids to wear them and see if people in the community ask what’s on their face. Then they can tell them that they go to KidzWorld at NewSpring Church and invite them to come and see all the great stuff we have not only for kids but for adults as well.

Tomorrow Debbie and I and nine other leaders will be taking our kids to Centri-Kid camp in Bolivar, MO.  This our third year attending Centri-Kid in Bolivar and each year we have a ball with the kids and they have a fantastic time as well with the other 500 junior campers.  Pray for our safety as we travel and also the opportunities to talk to the kids about spiritual matters in their lives.  You can check out this blog on a daily basis for updates and pictures of what the kids are doing.  Don’t forget parents, you need to be at the church at 9:30 a.m. and the bus pulls out at 10 a.m.

Judgement House Sign-Up

We are excited to say that August 17th is our sign-up to volunteer for Judgement House.  If you have never heard of Judgement House it is an awesome ministry that is designed to reach out to the community.  This will be our 9th year to do Judgement House and last year we had over 400 volunteers sign up to help us with this ministry.  Judgement House is a walk-thru drama that portrays how the choices people make in this life affect their eternity.  We need volunteers to help with drama, security, concessions, registration, counseling, prayer, tour guides, technical, runners and much more.  This event is something the whole family can be involved in.  Our sign-up will be Sunday, August 17 after the 11 a.m. service in the Worship Center.  The meeting will start 5-7 minutes after the service.  Please pick up your children first and then head back to the Worship Center.  The meeting will only last about 15-20 minutes.

JH is a ministry based on prayer. Every tour group, every scene and every invitation is bathed with prayer.  Will you start praying right now for the ministry of Judgement House and NewSpring Church?  We don’t want to do this without the power of prayer.  Pray that God will bless the script and that hearts of people will be open to the gospel.  Pray for good weather during the 8 days that we will do Judgement House and also for the health and safety of the cast and crew.  Last year alone, over 1400 people accepted the Lord and many are now members of NewSpring and excited about being part of the team this year.  What is the Lord telling you to do this year for Judement House?

Bus Gets a New Look

bus

We are so excited about the face lift that our NewSpring bus received over the last month.  Brandon did a fine job painting the bus white for us with the help of a couple of great volunteers.  Then I took it down to Signs Now and they laid the graphics on it.  Lance did his part by creating the cool graphics.  It is a great way to advertise NewSpring and it looks cool as well.  There are several community outreaches we will be doing this summer so it will come in handy as we promote NewSpring Church.

A week from tomorrow Debbie and I will be taking a total of 60 people to Centri-Kid  Camp in Bolivar, MO.  We are excited about all the kids that are coming; this is the largest group of kids we have taken to camp.  Pray for us as we work with these kids and as God works in each one of their hearts.  Special thanks to all of you who helped sponsor a kid to go to camp.  May God bless you “super-good” for having a heart for kids!
