Football Season

Philip #32PhilipOnce again it is time for football season.  For some it is the greatest time of the year; others have to put up with it for the sake of loved ones.  As I watched my son Philip play football last Friday in Kansas City, I began thinking about how important each team member is to the final outcome.  When I was on the sidelines I noticed that if a player didn’t do his job, it cost the whole team.  The simple action of not putting in a mouth piece can cost a team valuable yardage in penalties.

It’s the same way in our KidzWorld ministry here at NewSpring.  Someone might say,  “It’s no big deal if I show up late.” But it costs the team valuable “yardage” in the ministry.  We all need to be team players and give our best 100% of the time.  We never know what impression we might give to a first time guest if we are not working as a team or we think our job is not that important.  Trust me on this… we need everyone to do their part to the best of their ability.

Coming up on September 12 & 13 is KidzWorld Family Experience.  Parents, don’t miss this opportunity to help shape your child’s spiritual life.  It is going to be a blast–not only for the kids but also for the adults.

Constuction Photos/Need a Favor

It has been a while since I have blogged.  We took some vacation time last week and even though I was tempted to blog, I knew I needed just to be with my family and enjoy the beautiful state of Colorado.  But I was so happy to see steel sticking up when I returned to work on Tuesday!  Also the first layer of asphalt has been laid in the back parking lot.  Construction is moving right along and  all the steel should be up very soon.  It is going to be so exciting to have this building for our preschool dept.  Right now we are using every sq inch of space and we are busting at the seams in some places.  One way YOU could help us is by attending the Saturday or 9:15 a.m. service if you have kids.  Our KidzWorld classes are becoming maxed out at 11 a.m. and we still have about 6 months before this building will open.  So if you have been coming to NewSpring for awhile and attending the 11 a.m. service, we need you to help us make space for more first-time guests by attending another service.  We need to make sure we have enough space for those guests so that they can experience the excitement at NewSpring.  Thanks so much for helping us!

We are looking at the virtue of forgiveness this month in Route 252.  Today’s story was about Joseph and how he forgave his brothers for treating him so unfairly.  In the midst of the story we had a special news report.  I thought you would enjoy it.  Parents we have one more week of forgiveness before we move on to learn about love in August.  Hope to see you this weekend.

Centri-Kid Camp Update #12

Well, this was a 4 shirt day! (see previous blog post)  It was hot and humid but the kids had a ball today doing OMC.  It rained in the afternoon but they kept going by moving the activites inside.  Tonight was when the kids who signed up for a performance track performed before the whole camp.  They did a amazing job and I was so proud of each one of them.

Tonight during group devotions I talked about the meaning of baptism and answered some questions the kids had during the week.  After talking for about 5 minutes I asked if any of the kids think they are ready to take the next step in their Christian walk.  There was a total of 16 kids who raised their hands that they are interested in taking that step!  That is so great and I hope you parents will help us to sit down and talk with your kids about the decision they made at camp.  For those who showed interest, Debbie or Diane Borg will be contacting you with more information about Watermark Weekend.

We are loading up the bus at 7:15 a.m. tomorrow. Then we will eat breakfast and attend the ending celebration service and should be on the road by 10:30.  We will eat lunch at noon and should be home tomorrow around 4 p.m.  You can call the church office after 1 p.m. for a more up-to-date time table.  Pray for us as we travel home and that God will continue to work in your child’s life.  You guys have some super kids that have really shown a servant’s heart this week…and, yes, most of the kids are ready to see their parents!

Now, one final word of thanks to the awesome team of adults who came with us to camp! They have been your kids’ substitute parents for the week and they have cared for and prayed for your children in a wonderful way. Each one of them was totally excited about attending camp and they have continued to show excitement for all the decisions your kids have made. Please take a moment to thank them when you pick your kids up tomorrow.

See you tomorrow afternoon!
