JumpStart & Watermark

Has your elementary-age child been asking about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus? Or maybe your child has already made Jesus his/her best friend and is ready to take the next step of baptism. If so, please consider attending a JumpStart session. JumpStart is a 30 minute session for 1st-4th graders and their parent to hear the simple message of God’s love and forgiveness. At NewSpring, we believe that parents are the primary spiritual leaders for their children so we offer JumpStart as a tool to help you with that role. Upcoming JumpStart dates are Friday, February 24 and Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m. in 252 Theater.

If your child has shown interest in participating in KidzWorld Watermark on March 9th, JumpStart will be the place where your child can make sure he/she understands the concepts of salvation and baptism. He/she will be able to meet with one of our KidzWorld team members to get questions answered. We will even have our video team ready so your child can do a Watermark video testimony right after the JumpStart session.

You can register for JumpStart here. You can find out more about KidzWorld Watermark and register here.

KidzWorld January Take-Out: Game On Wristbands

Last weekend in KidzWorld we began learning the new Big Idea of Self-Control: choosing to do what you should do not what you want to do. In small groups, the kids made “Game On, Game Off” wristbands. They will wear their wristbands throughout the month of January and whenever they are showing self-control, the band will be on the “Game On” side. If they start to have a problem keeping their self-control, they should turn the band to the “Game Off” side as a reminder that they need to ask God to help them regain their self-control in the situation they are facing. Since our theme gaming, complete with Mario, we are focusing on a different button of the game controller each week. This past weekend we learned that God can give you the POWER to control yourself. Don’t miss next weekend when we talk about the PAUSE button and how it can help us have self-control. If you missed last weekend, don’t panic! We will be handing out wristbands to anyone who needs one next weekend.

This Weekend at NewSpring Church

This is the big weekend for the 5th grade move to The Wire! This is an exciting move designed to help 5th graders experience a teaching environment that is more suited to their needs. The Wire will be split into 2 venues. 5th and 6th graders will meet in Room A of the East Building while 7th and 8th graders meet in Room B. The Wire will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30 and 11:15 on Sunday.

There are a few changes in the check-in procedure for The Wire. Parents will not receive a parent receipt and will not be required to check their student in or pick their student up from The Wire. Parents are welcome to walk their students over to the East Building and arrange a meeting place with their student after the service is over. Once in the East Building, students are checked in with our computerized check-in system but this is mainly for attendance purposes. Students will not receive a name badge.

If you have any further questions about the change this weekend, please feel free to email our Middle School Pastor, daniel.mahannah@newspring.org.

See you this weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving

The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts.  No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.  ~H.U. Westermayer

Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude.  ~E.P. Powell

So once in every year we throng Upon a day apart, To praise the Lord with feast and song In thankfulness of heart. ~Arthur Guiterman, The First Thanksgiving

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.  ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy
