Camp update 2

Kids are heading to dinner and are ready for some more fun. Our first service is at 7pm and the kids are in for a big treat tonight! Here is a picture of our stage that the set shop at NewSpring did for us. More pics later got to get ready for tonight.

Camp Information for Parents

Parents,

Here are a few additional details about checking in for camp on Monday. Please arrive between 6:30 and 6:50 a.m. When you arrive, bring your child’s luggage to the buses. You will notice that each bus has a label so you will know where his/her luggage goes. Have your child keep any items that he/she needs on the bus during the trip. Then enter 252 Theater through the green doors. Go straight to the registration tables where your child will get a t-shirt (they need to wear that on the bus) and a name badge. The name badge will include their leader, room and bus assignment. Then your family can take pictures, give final instructions, say good-bye, etc until we begin to load the buses.

MEDICATIONS: Please bring any medications this weekend when you come for KidzWorld if possible. Our nurse will be available before all services this weekend. If you forget or are unable to attend, see the nurse right after you register on Monday.

BIG IDEAS STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE

Our lives are busy. As parents, we want to prioritize our children. We want to do everything we can to invest in them relationally, to guide them developmentally and to help them grow in their faith in Christ. But it’s just so easy to get caught up in the urgent day-to-day business of life.
The Parent Cue App provides you with simple “cues” throughout the week that remind you to pause and make the most of everyday moments.
Every month, Parent Cue will focus on one specific virtue, or life application. You will receive prompts for videos, activities, discussion questions and more that will help you connect with your child around this one key virtue. These prompts will come in the form of Drive Time videos, Hang Time activities, and Meal Time discussion starters to help you fit them into the day-to-day moments of your routine. There’s even a section just for you called Parent Time that’s filled with parent blogs, podcasts and more.

Family Time

I hope you were able to be in your place for one of the 5 services this weekend. If you were, you heard a great message about Hope, believing that something good can come out of something bad. Every environment from KidzWorld to The Wire to Hub and the adults in the auditorium are synced up to talk about the same messages from the Bible all throughout the month of April. The presentations were very different but the message was the same this weekend: Whatever happens, remember what Jesus promised. We pray that families will take the opportunity to talk about the messages they heard this weekend together during meals or drive time or even at bedtime. Here are a couple of questions to get you started.

Ask a Kid: When you feel sad, what gives you hope?
Ask a Parent: Have you ever had a time when things didn’t seem to be going well, but later it all worked out?

You can find even more ideas and watch some of the videos we use in KidzWorld by downloading the parent cue app to your mobile device. The cost of the app is $1.99 and it has some awesome tools to help your family start conversations about God.

Don’t forget that next weekend we will celebrate Easter with 6 identical services. They will happen on Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 7 at 4 and 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 8 at 8:45, 10:15 and noon. Invite someone who doesn’t go to church to come and hear about the greatest event in the history of the world next weekend at NewSpring. KidzWorld will be open during ALL SIX SERVICES. The Wire will be open for it’s regular weekend schedule: 4 and 5:30 on Saturday and 10:15 and noon on Sunday.

Big Things are Happening

What a beautiful day in Kansas!  Hope you are taking time to enjoy it and thank God for His blessings today. There are 3 things that I would like to share with you and ask for your help:

First, this Sunday we start another service at NewSpring Church and all Sunday service times will change. The new times are 8:45 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and noon. This will allow us to reach more people in South Central Kansas. There have been times when we ran out of parking space and reached full capacity in KidzWorld classes because so many people want to attend our services. The purpose of the additional service is to hopefully spread out the crowds and allow more people to come and enjoy the NewSpring experience without dealing with parking and room size limitations.

I would like to ask each person who is reading this email and celebrates with us about the number of people who are drawn to come to NewSpring to seriously consider how you can help us make this move work. Please consider attending the 8:45 or noon service as your main service time. We believe that 10:15 will be the most attractive to our many guests so we appreciate your help making space for them. Also, consider volunteering if you don’t already. There are many ways to get involved at NewSpring. You can go to our website to get more information about volunteering or just check one of the boxes on your worship guide this weekend and we will get in contact with you about volunteer opportunities.

Another service time addition is happening for Easter weekend ONLY. In addition to our new weekend service times, we will offer a weekend service on Friday, April 6th at 7 p.m. This service will be identical to the Saturday and Sunday services. We expect it to benefit those who may leave town over the weekend or have family plans on Saturday and Sunday.  KidzWorld will be open during all 6 services and The Wire will be open during it’s new schedule of Saturday at 4 and 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10:15 and noon. Pick up some mini-invites in the main foyer or in KidzWorld to invite your friends for that special weekend.

Second, Baby Dedication will be May 6 at 3 p.m. This is a very special service for those families that have children under the age of two. It’s a time for parents to commit themselves to raise their children to follow Christ and to instill in them the values & truth from the Bible. You MUST pre-register if you want to participate in this event. We will send you a packet of information that you should complete before the dedication. You can get more information and register here.

Third, KidzWorld Camp is scheduled for June 4-7. We would like to invite your 2nd-4th grader to go to camp at Sky Ranch in Quapaw, Oklahoma. The cost of camp is 259.00 which is an early bird rate available until April 15. We want to make the camp experience fantastic for the kids. NewSpring has rented out the entire camp facility and we have secured some super nice tour buses for transportation. But the camp and bus company need our final numbers well in advance of camp so we really encourage you to sign up by April 15th if your child would like to attend camp. The KidzWorld staff is already making plans to make this the best camp ever!  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to allow your child to have fun and learn something that will impact them for years to come.  Just click here to register. If you don’t have a child going to camp but you would like to help financially with the cost of camp, you can make a donation online or by marking “camp help” on your offering envelope.

KidzWorld March Family Take-Out

All month long, KidzWorld will be learning about the Big Idea of Conviction–standing for what’s right, even when others don’t. As a reminder to stand for what’s right, we are offering a “stand” shoe tag project for the family take-out this month. Pick one up at KidzWorld. Then have fun as a family making personalizing your own shoe tags. The instructions are included below.

Instructions for Shrinky Dink “Stand” Shoe Tag

1. Color. Color and personalize your stand tag with colored pencils. Make sure you color on the rough side. The word “stand” should be backwards to you while you are coloring. DO NOT use water color markers or crayons.

2. Cut-out. Cut out the “Stand” tag on the outline.

3. Punch Holes.  Punch out the small circle to form a hole to fit your shoe lace or a necklace. NOTE: You will need to punch out the entire small circle as the hole will shrink when heated. You will need to make more than one punch if you are using a standard hole punch.

4. Bake. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Put a piece of brown grocery bag paper down on a cookie sheet. Place the Shrinky Dinks, colored side up, on the brown paper and put in the pre-heated oven. Bake approximately 1-3 minutes. As the Shrinky Dink bakes it will shrink and shrivel. After the pieces lay flat, allow an additional 30 seconds of baking time to complete the process. Remove paper from cookie sheet and lightly press FLAT with a folded piece of paper until pieces have cooled (about 15 seconds)

5. Show it off! Lace your “Stand” tag on your shoe lace or wear it as a necklace or backpack tag. Use it as a reminder to stand for what’s right even when others don’t.

Big News

Message from Mark Hoover, Sr Pastor

Good Morning NewSpring,

So much on my mind today, I had to talk to you about some of it. First, this is the final weekend of Valleys. It takes us to the best-known valley in the Bible from Psalm 23. I think you’re going to be deeply touched by what you hear. Next week we begin Heavy Duty, Bolt Down Tight. No doubt about it, this could be the three most important weeks you spend in church! You’ll see what I mean next weekend! And now for some HUGE NEWS… With the dramatic growth we continue to experience at NewSpring, we’re going to OPEN UP A 5th WEEKEND SERVICE! If you regularly attend NewSpring on Sundays, you don’t need an explanation, but I’d like to let you in on what’s leading this step of faith so you can pray for us, and hopefully help.

On recent weekends we’ve seen lines in the parking lot, traffic jams, check-in lines and general crowdedness become more challenging. We actually had two lines overlap each other last weekend. Did you know that we’ve had to close some Adventure Avenue (preschool environments) because we were at capacity?

While these are wonderful signs of a church in the midst of historic and explosive growth, (We have a thousand more attenders than we had this time last year.) we never forget that our main purpose for existing is to help people make an eternal connection with Jesus. While you and I and other committed NewSpringers are good-natured about all these challenges, we can’t afford to forget that they could easily discourage someone taking their first steps toward God.

AND SO… on Palm Sunday (April 1st), we launch OUR 5th weekend service. SUNDAY MORNING TIMES WILL CHANGE TO 8:45, 10:15, and 12:00! Saturday service times will stay the same. More choices to attend… more OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE!

One of those new opportunities to serve will be in KidzWorld. KidzWorld is looking for some people with a passion for NewSpring–people who haven’t yet started volunteering but are ready to take that step of commitment. If you would like to make a difference in the lives of kids and have fun doing it, check out this opportunity. KidzWorld FX happens on Friday, March 9th at 7 p.m. in the main auditorium. KidzWorld FX is an event for the whole family where kids and parents learn about the Big Idea together. This month, you are invited to see what a KidzWorld program is like. Right after the program, the KidzWorld team will be available to answer your questions about volunteering and help you fill out a volunteer application. Studies have shown that only 25% of kids in the Wichita area attend church. We want to change that with your help. Come to FX on March 9th or email debbie.kubish@newspring.org for more information about volunteering in KidzWorld.

One special note. This coming Wednesday is First Wednesday (6:30). I’ll be sharing more details, opportunities, we’ll celebrate communion, James will lead us in worship. it’ll be awesome. I’d so love it if you could fit it into your schedule!
